ROANOKE (WSLS) – A Roanoke City Police Officer will deploy to serve overseas in “Operation Enduring Freedom.”

Officer Neil Brown will go through six weeks of training before going overseas to either Iraq or Ukraine. He is a member of the Army’s 362nd Military Police Detachment, First Infantry Division.

This is not Officer Brown’s first time getting deployed. He also served in Afghanistan.

He says, this time around, he’s not as anxious, but is looking forward to once again serving this country.

“Serving our country it’s a hard job,” said Brown. “You have a lot to think about. You have your family and your friends. We do our mission to the best of our ability. Not all of us make it home but we do fight for our country, and it’s a hard task.”
