Glenvar’s Dooley Poised to Be Key Hokies Backup This Fall

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS) – Former Glenvar star Seth Dooley was a top 30 player in the state of Virginia when he joined the Hokies last year. After a year in the program, his role and his muscle mass are growing exponentially.

Dooley is a redshirt freshman defensive end who’s currently running with the second team.

The Highlanders product came to Virginia Tech at roughly 225.  After a summer where he earned  “Iron Hokie” honors, he’s currently carrying 250 pounds. He’s put in the work on and off the field–and it’s paying off as a key member of Bud Foster’s defense.

Dooley says he focused on his technique and power moves after coming to college with mostly a speed rush. Coach Foster says Dooley has had a great spring and summer, and gives the position a lot of athleticism where they really need it. Dooley is currently the backup for starter Ken Ekanem.
