Roanoke (WSLS) - The movie crew working on a film based on former Roanoke City Police Officer Bryan Lawrence's life will make casting decisions by the end of this week.

"Kicked by Grace" crews auditioned about 200 people total, including a hundred at this past weekend's casting call.

The movie came about after one of Lawrence's childhood friends told a movie director about how the former officer was attacked, partially paralyzed, and his faith led him through it to become a pastor.

"There's so much being played on TV and all the things that our kids watch and are exposed to that I told Bryan that his story needs to be told, because it serves a purpose that's bigger than all of us and we need to continue to do that as often as possible," Steve Woolwine said, Executive Producer and childhood friend.

You still have the opportunity to hit the big screen, movie crews are looking for extras, so send your head shot and resume to boo_tee@msn.com.

Also, the director is asking for the community's support to show up at the Roanoke Civic Center on Sept. 6th to film a bike rally scene.  The rally will also serve as a fundraiser for the Roanoke City Police Department.
