It is a state-funded program for at-risk four-year-olds who are not covered by Head Start.

School leaders say they have seen a significant difference in the performance of kindergarten students who have preschool experience and those that do not, and this program will help get each child on equal ground.

The VPI at McHarg will include about 18 students this year and will kick off August 21st.
