BLACKSBURG (WSLS) – The woman accused of killing Virginia Tech student Samanta Shrestha appeared in Montgomery County Circuit Court Monday.

Jessica Ewing is charged with first degree murder and transporting or concealing a dead body in connection to Shrestha’s death back in February.

Ewing’s second degree murder charge was officially dropped at Monday’s pre-trail hearing.  She will be back in court Monday, August 18th, to receive a trial date, which will likely be sometime early next year.

The judge has also ordered a sanity evaluation for Ewing.
