FLOYD (WSLS) – After FloydFest 12 in 2013, people who attended the event were asked for the feedback and this year’s organizers used the responses in this year’s planning.
Festival organizers say they received over 700 responses from last year’s event attendees, whose concerns included muddy parking and driving areas and slow check-in processes. Based on those responses, organizers made some changes.
Parking lots now have gravel instead of dirt. Rain during the 2013 event caused vehicles to get stuck in the mud.
There are also less check-in spots and attendees can get everything done, including bag-checks, where they park.
Camping was a big problem last year when more than 17,000 people showed up. Some campers we spoke to told us they would find a great place to camp and the next morning find someone camped right next to them. This year, spaces are marked 15-by-15 and attendees have to buy tent tags. Organizers hope this will help limit how many people would camp in certain areas and give people more privacy while sleeping.
There are new, air-conditioned shuttle buses this year, too.
