Liberty University hosts Railroad Emergency Response training session

Lynchburg (WSLS) - Liberty University is hosting a training session on Railroad Emergency Response Tactics for local emergency personnel on Monday. This comes less than three months after a train derailment in downtown Lynchburg that triggered evacuations. Norfolk Southern will lead the session. About thirty workers from Liberty's Police Department will be there along with Lynchburg EMS. Training will feature a high-level railroad emergency simulation and proper procedures including how to handle hazardous chemicals.
