Commonwealth games kickoff at the Roanoke Civic Center

Thousands of athletes are in Roanoke this weekend for the 25th Annual Subway Commonwealth Games.

Organizers said this year's event has more events and participants than in previous years. Events include basketball, Cross Fit, Karate and more.
