State Police are investigating a tractor trailer accident on southbound Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County.
Troopers got the call just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, although the investigation revealed the wreck happened around 4:50 a.m.

It happened around mile marker 187, when a Volvo tractor trailer hauling engine parts ran off the road, overcorrected, and then went through a guardrail down an embankment, hitting several trees and a fence.
State police say the truck driver, 61-year-old Gary Johnson of Greencastle, Pennsylvania was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Greencastle is charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
