Thousands of the nation's estimated four million fast food workers are expected to strike along with thousands of workers on six continents today. They're demanding an increase in pay to $15 an hour which is why they chose today's date for the strike. The average pay for a fast food worker is about $9 an hour.

State and local elected officials from the Roanoke Valley will hold a news conference to discuss the state budget and Medicaid expansion. It's scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Roanoke County Administration Building.

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski will have a disaster preparedness drill for its staff, emergency planners and fire and EMS. The public is also invited to take part in Emergency Management Day at 1:00 for a session on personal preparedness presented by the Red Cross.

Advance Auto Parts will release its first quarter results before the stock market opens today. The results will be detailed during a conference call at 10 a.m..
