The school received $100,000 for the next two years. For example tuition for a full time student is $4,000 for the year. The program covers free tuition, books, and other required supplies for training.

A person who goes into the program will be able to get a diploma, certificate or associate degree from the college.

There are several economic benefits to it especially with some dislocated workers in the area. This includes employees from B&W and soon Trident Seafoods in Bedford County. Those affected employees will not have to move away to get training.

Right now there are only two people in the program and the coordinator wants more students.

"Right now there is an application process but really the way people get denied is if they don't fit the qualifications," says Sarah Jarrett, On Ramp Grant Program Coordinator.
