Pulaski County turning old elementary school into adult care facility

NEWBERN – Pulaski County received a $700,000 grant from
the state to turn the old Newbern Elementary School building into an adult day care facility.

The county plans to lease the property to a nonprofit organization, Pulaski Adult Day Service. That group hopes to have the facility open within a year. They will not only have a day care service, but also a fall prevention and rehabilitation center.

County leaders say this will be the only facility of its kind in the county, which now has a population that is more than 33 percent above age 55.
