Redskins Deal, Then Choose LB

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins have opened their NFL draft by selecting linebacker Trent Murphy of Stanford in the second round.

Murphy was taken Friday at No. 47 overall.

The
Redskins were slated to have the 34th overall pick, but they traded it to the Dallas Cowboys for Nos. 47 and 78.

Murphy had 15 sacks for the Cardinal last season and also returned an interception for a touchdown.

The
Redskins didn't have a first round selection, having traded it to the St. Louis Rams as part of the deal that allowed them to pick franchise quarterback Robert Griffin III two years ago.
