Festivals Draw A Large Crowd in Roanoke

The City of Roanoke has seen several festivals in the last couple of weeks.

“Downtown Roanoke, Inc.” says it’s helping with businesses.

Last weekend, 2,000 runners came downtown for the Blue Ridge Marathon last weekend.

This weekend, people came out to the Strawberry Festival and Cinco de Mayo Festival.

This is the first time both Elmwood Park and Market Square have been used at the same time since renovations wrapped up.

Matthew Klepeisz, a member of “Downtown Roanoke, Inc.” says it gives visitors a chance to see what Downtown Roanoke has to offer.

“When folks come down town, if they haven’t been here, it’s great for them to get to know what downtown offers.  Of course, we hope they stop by a retailer or restaurant,” he said.
