Red Sox Try to Make Carolina League History

The Salem Red Sox home opener has taken on historical significance. The defending Carolina League Champs have opened the season 4-0 after sweeping Myrtle Beach to open the season. The franchise has won 15 in a row dating back to last year’s championship run. A 16th straight win would match the all-time league record set in 1950.  Salem management is clearly excited about the possibility of tieing the league record set by the Winston-Salem Cardinals more than 70 years ago.
The team should have the emotional edge with a championship plaque unveiling set for tomorrow night, along with plenty of opening night festivities. The opponent? The Winston-Salem Dash.
