Roanoke Civic Center Upgrades

The Roanoke Civic Center will be getting some noticeable upgrades in the next few years.

Roanoke City Council will be talking about it at their meeting tomorrow.

The Civic Center is more than 40 years old.

In the plan, replacing all the coliseum seats that are original to the building, replacing all the lighting in the performing arts theatre and waterproofing the plaza.

All of those changes are expected during the next fiscal year, starting in July.

It's expected to cost about $1 million.

In the following years, they will update the restrooms, sound system and paint.

We're told it will make the Civic Center look completely different.
