State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Bedford County

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Bedford County that killed a Moneta resident this morning.

Police say the accident happened around 9:40 a.m. on Route 747 near Route 122 in Bedford County.

The preliminary investigation found a 2004 Nissan Sentra was driving northbound on Route 747 when it ran off the right side of the road and overturned.

Police say Shirley Jean Branscome was driving the vehicle.

They say Branscome was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
