DeSean Jackson Joins Redskins

WASHINGTON (AP) - DeSean Jackson says joining the Washington Redskins was about finding a place where he can be happy and be himself.

signed with the Redskins on Wednesday, less than a week after he was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles.

calls his departure from the Eagles a humbling experience and says recruiting efforts by Robert Griffin III and DeAngelo Hall played a major role in his decision to come to Washington.

He says he put out a statement denying involvement in gang activity so that people could "see the real DeSean Jackson and not see the painted picture" others had described.

's next big challenge will be keeping the No. 10 he wore with the Eagles. Griffin has that number with the Redskins, but Jackson suggested perhaps Griffin could switch.
