Plans haven't been finalized on when or where the new Kris pie Kreme donut shop will open, but we know what it will look like.
Krispy Kreme opened a new store in Burlington, North Carolina Tuesday morning. The look and feel is what store leaders say will be used for the new Krispy Kreme in Roanoke. Lots of North Carolinians turned out for the opening, including NASCAR legend Richard Petty.
It's a brand new concept for the donut franchise.
Harold Sink is the General Manager for the Krispie Kreme shop in Roanoke and is helping with the grand-opening in Burlington.
He says he gets about 15 calls a day from people in our community asking about when the shop will re-open.
“I'm just as anxious as they are,” Roanoke Krispy Kreme General Manager, Harold Sink says. “We want to get back to the valley and open back up and want to see our friends again.”
Another reason it's important to get the donuts back on the shelves in Roanoke is to keep up with fundraising. Our area is ranked second out of more than 90 Krispy Kreme stores in the community.
“We are fans of Roanoke because of how kind and warm they've been to us and we can't wait to get back,” Krispy Kreme Marketing Manager, John Ward says. “I think when they walk in and see this and experience the family atmosphere, the different seating package, bright new colors, it's going to be amazing.”
The new shop will be smaller than the original location on Melrose, just focusing on making and selling donuts instead of shipping the donuts other places.
One of the features will be a drive-thru, giving you an easy way to get your donuts on the go.
