We honor another one of our Red Cross Heroes, our Medical Hero, Dr. Mark Watts.
Back in 2004, Dr. Watts co-founded Project Access, a local non-profit that provides medical care to people who work, but don't have insurance.
About 10 years ago, he was inspired to reach beyond his patient rooms and out into the community.
“I think it kind of hit me with September 11th, that to me was kind of like an epiphany that that was one of those moments where I kind of felt like you know what I need to ramp things up and try to do more in my community,” explained Dr. Watts.
Since 2004, under Dr. Watt's leadership, Project Access has provided care to 4,500 people in our community, care that's valued at more than $13 million.
