Ken Heineck joined the WSLS team as a Digital Journalist in December 2010. He grew up north of Atlanta and graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. in Communication Studies.
Throughout college, he interned at New England Cable News in Boston, Massachusetts in the sports department covering his beloved Red Sox and Patriots who were in training camp.
Before joining WSLS, Ken worked at WITN in eastern North Carolina as the station's New Bern Bureau Chief. He reported mostly in the region's coastal counties but covered everything from hurricanes to the inauguration of Governor Bev Perdue. He began his television career in Roanoke Rapids, NC at First Media Radio. He began his days reading the news for the area's morning talk show on WPTM radio, then reported and anchored for the company's TV station WNVN.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Laura, golfing, traveling, and trying to make it down to Tallahassee to see his Seminoles play at least once a year. Ken is looking forward to covering stories in the New River Valley and exploring all the area has to offer. Please feel free to contact him with any story ideas at email@example.com.
