Roanoke Catholic students prep care packages for troops overseas

ROANOKE, Va. – Students at Roanoke Catholic are sending more than 300 care packages to troops overseas as part of a school-wide service project.

We’re told the Celtics have been collecting items for each individual service member for more than a week.

The students wanted to provide a taste of home so they wrote messages like “Thank you for your service,” and “You’re the bomb.com!” on packaged treats.

Organizers behind the project said they want members of our armed forces to know they’re appreciated.

“So, my main hope is that they know that the students at Roanoke Catholic, and the faculty and the families here are supporting them and praying for them, and we just want them to know that we really appreciate what they’re doing,” Megan Potter, a teacher at Roanoke Catholic, said.

The packages are going to marines and soldiers in Qatar, Kuwait, Poland, and Djibouti.
